பரதநாட்டியம் - தமிழரின் உயிர்ப்பான உயர்கலை

பரத நாட்டியம் தென்னிந்தியாவுக்குரிய, சிறப்பாகத் தமிழ்நாட்டுக்குரிய நடனமாகும். இது மிகத் தொன்மைவாய்ந்ததும், இந்தியாவிலும், வெளிநாடுகளிலும் பிரபலமானதுமாகும். பரத முனிவர் என்ற சித்தரால் உண்டாக்கப்பட்டதனால் பரதம் என்ற பெயர் வந்ததாகக் கூறுவர். அதேவேளை பரதம் என்ற சொல், ப - பாவம், ர - ராகம், த - தாளம் என்ற மூன்றையும் குறித்து நிற்பதாகவும் சொல்லப்படுகிறது. இதில் பாவம் உணர்ச்சியையும், ராகம் இசையையும் குறிக்கும். இவற்றுடன் தாளம் சேர்ந்த நடனம்தான் பரத நாட்டியம். நன்கு தேர்ச்சி பெற்றதொரு நாட்டியக்கலைஞரின் முக பாவனையில் நவரசங்களின் பாவனைகளையும் வெளிக்கொணருதலைக் காணலாம்.
